Help with Star Regions for iPhone and iPad

It helps a lot if you mention your device model, the iOS or iPadOS version, and the app version shown in Settings → About.
The board is a square grid split into colored regions. Place stars so that every row, every column and every region holds exactly one star — or exactly two on 2★ boards. Two stars may never touch, not even diagonally. Tap a cell once to mark it ✕, a second time for a star, a third time to clear it.
On 1★ boards (5×5 to 11×11) each row, column and region gets one star. On 2★ boards (9×9 to 12×12) each of them gets two, which makes for longer and more intricate puzzles. Tap the size chip in the top-left corner to switch between them. Every size is open from the start.
A ✕ is your own note that a star cannot go in that cell. Auto-X, in the bottom bar or in Settings, adds a small dot to every empty cell where a star would break a rule right now. Dots follow your stars: remove a star and its dots disappear. Tapping a dot turns it into your own ✕.
If something on the board contradicts the solution, Hint points it out without removing anything. If everything is correct so far, it places one correct star. Hints are never limited; each new one takes 1 point off the puzzle.
A puzzle is worth as many points as it has stars. A hint or a restart takes 1 point off, never below 1. Points are just a record of how cleanly you solved: they never unlock or limit anything. Your total is shown at the top of the size picker.
A best time is saved only for a puzzle solved without hints and without starting over. Once the position of a star has been shown, the time no longer says much about solving. The puzzle still counts as solved, and its points are added.
Start over clears your marks, the Undo history and the clock on the same puzzle, and takes 1 point off it. New puzzle deals a fresh one of the same size with no effect on points. Both are in the … menu at the top right.
No. It pauses when the app goes to the background and while Settings, How to play or the size picker is open. If you put the device down mid-puzzle, it stops counting ten minutes after your last move. You can hide the timer in Settings; it still keeps time for your best times.
Each board size has its own collection of 1,000 puzzles, dealt in an order shuffled for your device. A puzzle comes back only after you have played through the whole collection for that size, and then it appears rotated or mirrored.
Region borders are always drawn. Turn on Settings → Accessibility → Bold region outlines to make them thicker; the iOS Increase Contrast setting does the same. Light and dark appearance can be chosen in Settings. With VoiceOver, every cell announces its row, column, region and content.
No. Everything works offline, including every puzzle.
